In uniting together during this time of fasting, we are expecting to see a greater demonstration of God's power and presence in our lives and in the life of our church.

Review this guide to see what we will be praying for during this time, learn more about the basics of fasting and discover new ways to journal the Word you will receive from God.

IMPORTANT: This fast is not required and is on a volunteer basis. Before beginning any fast consult with your doctor to determine if you are healthy enough to participate in an extended fast. The Bridge Church, and any of its related entities, are not responsible for any health related conditions prior to and after this fasting period. Please pray about participating and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you to a decision.

Fasting is abstaining from food for a spiritual purpose. Fasting is not a tool to twist the arm of God so that He will give you exactly what you want. Fasting has a spiritual purpose, and that purpose is to get your flesh out of the way so that the Spirit of God can move in your life. Fasting removes the barriers to communication with God and allows the spirit man to commune directly with the heavenly Father – without disturbance. When a person makes a determination to fast, they are making a determination to remove the obstacles in their life to total submission to the will of God. No wonder Satan is determined to eradicate this practice! Fasting tears down his strongholds. Fasting clears the way for our victory. Satan will do anything to prevent that. Man is a triune being made up of body, soul and spirit. It is the spirit that came from God and longs to be reunited with God. Given the opportunity, the spirit will reach out to God and communicate with Him. These three parts of the person, however, compete for influence. Your spirit can influence your soul, and your soul can influence your flesh. If you are in tune spiritually with God, your soul has no choice but to delight in the decisions of your spiritual life. Your flesh submits to the authority of your soul.
Mark 9:29; Luke 5:33-35; Romans 13:14; 1 Corinthians 9:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Isaiah 58:6-12

At The Bridge Church, our mission is to connect with God, People and Purpose. We give God first place in our lives, we celebrate diversity and we are fulfilling our God given purpose.

We love giving. Therefore, we use our time, talents and treasures to advance God’s Kingdom. Our vision is clear and our minds made up. We are building bridges that span religious, ethnic, social and economic barriers, leading us to live more fulfilled lives through Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • Our Members

Father God, I pray for the body of The Bridge Church, that you would give to us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you, the eyes of our understanding being enlightened; and that you would strengthen us with might by your spirit in the inner man. Ephesians 1:17-18; 3:16

I thank you that we speak the truth in love, and grow up into Christ, our head; that the whole body of The Bridge is fitly joined together and compacted and every joint supplies; that every part is effectually working together, causing the body to increase, as everyone is edified in love. Ephesians 4:15-16

Father, I now pray for every man in the body of The Bridge. I cancel every strategy and operation designated to destroy his manhood, his success, his family life, his self-esteem, his reputation, his financial, intellectual and social advancement; his business success, prosperity, achievements, and his legacy; and every other area targeted to keep him oppressed, controlled, dishonored, dominated, and beneath his potential. Father, cause our men to be transformed by the renewing of their minds, that they may all be saved and spirit-filled, see their status in Christ, and never again settle for anything less than their inheritance provides. Romans 12:2; Acts 11:24; 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Father God, I pray for all the married men of The Bridge that each husband rules well his own house, provides godly headship and financial stability for his family. Every husband loves his wife, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.
1 Timothy 3:4; Ephesians 5:25

Father God, I pray for all the married women of The Bridge that each one is a virtuous woman, and submits to her husband as unto the Lord, and is subject unto him in everything. Ephesians 5:22-24; Proverbs 31:10-31

Father, I thank you that every married couple have a covenant marriage, and successfully overcome every obstacle in life together by faith and the Word of God.
Matthew 18:19; James 5:16; Ephesians 4:2; Colossians 3:13; 1 Peter 3:7

Now Lord, I pray for all single men and women in the body of The Bridge. I pray that they would care for the things of the Lord, how they may please the Lord, being holy both in body and in spirit. I decree that the world’s values have no control or influence on their desires of lifestyle. They walk in the light and keep fellowship with the saints of God. 1 Corinthians 7:32-34; 1 John 1:7; Ephesians 5:8

Father God, I thank you for the children of The Bridge that they all grow strong in spirit, are filled with wisdom, and the grace of God is upon them. They are taught of the Lord and great is their peace. An excellent spirit is in them, there is no blemish, but they are well favored, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge and understanding, and have risen to the top as the greatest leaders on the face of the earth. Isaiah 54:13; Daniel 1:4; 5:12; Luke 2:40

Father, I pray that every member of The Bridge will grow to be a strong, mature, fruit-bearing disciple of Christ, sanctified from the world, empowered to serve, fulfilling your purpose and plan for their lives. John 15:8; Ephesians 6:10; Hebrews 5:14

Father God, I thank you that Pastor Allen and Family are filled with the Spirit of knowledge, counsel, might, understanding, wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. Isaiah 11:2

I thank you that they study diligently the Word of God to feed your flock, and their speech and preaching are in demonstration of the spirit and of power. They are skilled in the Word of righteousness and speak as the oracles of God. I thank you that they preach the uncompromised Word of God and signs and wonders confirm the word preached. I thank you that they are godly examples for those you have given them oversight of. 1 Corinthians 2:4;1 Peter 4:11; Mark 16:20

I thank you that no weapon that is formed against them shall prosper and every lying tongue risen against them shall be silenced. I cover Pastor Allen and Family with the blood of Jesus, and release the angels of God to minister for them and bring them into God’s best every day of their life. Isaiah 54:17

Father, I thank you that you have opened doors of utterance for them to proclaim boldly the gospel. They are teaching believers how to live independent of this world system and have dominion over it. They have clarity of vision, unimpeded by ungodly sources or input. Ephesians 6:19

Father, I thank you that the anointing of increase is upon their lives and whatsoever they do prospers. Every business deal works in their favor and to their advantage. Your blessings overtake them because they hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord their God. I thank you that their family is of one heart and in one accord, and are enjoying the days of heaven upon the earth. Psalm 115:14; Deuteronomy 28:1-2

8. Health and Healing January 23

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray Your Word concerning healing. As I do this, I believe and say that Your Word will not return unto me void, but will accomplish what it says it will. Therefore, I believe in the name of Jesus that all are healed. It is written in Your Word that Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. Therefore, with great boldness and confidence I pray on the authority of that written Word that all are redeemed from the curse of sickness, and refuse to tolerate its symptoms.
Satan, I speak to you in the name of Jesus and say that your principalities, powers, your spirits who rule the present darkness and your spiritual wickedness in heavenly places are bound from operating against God's people in any way. We are the property of Almighty God, and give you no place in us. We dwell in the secret place of the Most High God. We abide, remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty, whose power no foe can withstand.
Now Father, because I reverence and worship you, I have the assurance of Your Word that the angel of the Lord encamps around about your people and delivers us from every evil work. No evil shall befall your people; no plague or calamity shall come near our dwelling. I pray that the Word of God abides in your people and delivers to us perfect soundness of mind and wholeness in body and spirit. The Word is medication and life to our flesh for the law of the Spirit of life operates in us and makes us free from the law of sin and death. We have on the whole armor of God, and the shield of faith protects us from all the fiery darts of the wicked. I stand immovable and fixed in full assurance that your people have health and healing now in the name of Jesus.

9. Finances January 24

Father God, I come to you in Jesus’ name to thank you for blessing and prospering us as children of the Most High God, so we can be a blessing to the nations of the earth. As Abraham’s seed and heir of the world, today I will use your power to get wealth, and I believe I receive wealth in every form you will to get it to me.

Today I exercise diligence, for the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Today my household is blessed, and the blessing of the Lord maketh us rich. We hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord our God and we observe to do according to all his commandments, which he commands us this day. Today God’s grace is abounding towards me and my family with a bountiful harvest from our seed sown. Jesus became poor that we through his poverty might be rich, and God promised that wealth and riches would be in our house because we fear him and delight greatly in his commandments; and God is rich to all who call upon him. I am wealthy and I leave an inheritance to my children’s children.

I command my harvest of all the seed that I have sown for wealth to grow and come to me now, in Jesus’ name. Because I sow bountifully, I reap bountifully. Devil, you are rebuked by the Lord and you can’t steal my harvest because I’m a tither. Angels, reapers, go forth and bring my blessings and my harvest to me now in Jesus’ name. My wealth is paid for by the blood of Jesus and I call in my inheritance as a joint heir with Christ.

Lord, I thank you that every member of The Bridge Church is a tither and living independent of the world’s system. I thank you that The Bridge is a tithing ministry and the devour is rebuked on our behalf and we are a debt free church.

Father, I thank you that we have favor with businesses and that they are pouring financial resources into this ministry. In Jesus name. Amen.

  • Fasting enables you to break the hold of the flesh and bring your appetites into control. It places you in submission to the Spirit of God.
  • Fasting helps to build godly character. As we spend time with God, we become more like Him in our speech, thinking, behavior, etc.
  • Fasting helps to loose the chains of bondage. Fasting breaks spiritual strongholds. (Isaiah 58:6)
  • Regular fasting can help protect us from the blindness of our own opinions and desires.
  • Fasting will help us to be led by the Spirit instead of being led by faulty judgments.
  • Fasting is a powerful tool for healing and restoration (Isaiah 58:8)
  • Fasting crucifies the flesh. We are not to live our lives pursuing whatever gratifies the
  • cravings and appetite of the flesh (the lower, carnal nature). Fasting enables you to break the hold of the flesh and bring your appetites into control.
  • Fasting helps us to hear the voice of God more clearly.
  • Fasting opens your spirit to the supernatural power of God.

Declare. Determine. And Dedicate.

  • Declare that you are fasting and commit to it. By making this declaration, you are putting every part of your being on alert. You are letting your body and mind know what you intend to do. Set the boundaries of your fast. Determine what type of fast you will go on and how long the fast will be.
  • Determine your purpose for fasting. Are you fasting for divine guidance and revelation in a certain area of your life; the salvation of a loved one; to break a spirit of strife in your home or workplace; or to sever ungodly soul ties? Are you deciding whom to marry; where to move, or do you desire to draw closer to God?
  • Dedication and Commitment: Write a statement of commitment to God about why you are fasting and what you believe will be accomplished during this time. Write a brief prayer of dedication, devoting this time of denial to God and to His purposes in your life.

Repent Of Your Failings And Shortcomings

  • Most people have so many things that stand between them and God that they need several days just to clear the air and be ready to communicate well. Fasting is not just for the purpose of resolving specific problems. It has the purpose of renewing and strengthening your relationship with God so that your everyday prayers can be more effective.
  • If you fast, yet you have something in your heart against your neighbor – grudges, unforgiveness, bitterness, strife, envy, or backbiting – don’t expect to get miracles from God. Any of those things will bring you into bondage if they are allowed to rule in your heart. Use this time of prayer and fasting to bring these things to the light and allow God to deal with them.
  • Let God search your heart and bring to light hindrances to answered prayer of which even you are not aware.

Intercede for Others

  • When you have prayed for others, the Father will stretch out His hand to you and invite you to receive all that you are personally lacking.
  • Intercede for the leaders of our society. Intercede for our community leaders. And intercede for our spiritual leaders.
  • We are admonished by Jesus Himself to pray for more laborers for the spiritual harvest. If we should pray for them to get into the harvest, surely we can uphold them during their labors in the field.
  • As Believers, we are all members of the same Kingdom. Support one another. Pray for one another. Intercede for one another.

Boldly Present Your Own Needs Before the Lord

  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
  • God shows His interest in your need by His concern with your “daily bread.” He wants to supply for you personally. Don’t be hesitant to take your petitions before Him. Do it boldly. God wants to help YOU.

Concentrate On The Word Of God

  • Once you have begun your fast, don’t spend all your time in front of the television. Too many foods are advertised on television. The most important reason not to watch a lot of television, however, is that television won’t feed your soul (or your spirit).
  • Don’t waste your time on magazines or other frivolous reading materials either. Use this opportunity to get into the Word of God. Meditate on God’s promises. Let your mind dwell on them. Claim them for yourself.
  • The Word of God is so powerful that it can penetrate any obstacle, any circumstance, or any problem in life. It is more powerful than a two-edged sword. It can separate the spirit from the soul. It can slice into the thoughts and intents of the heart. (See Hebrews 4:12-14)

Don’t Neglect the Prayer Aspect of Fasting
  • Our principle purpose in prayer is not to wrestle with the Enemy. If you allow him to, Satan will dominate your prayer time. The purpose of prayer is to communicate with the Father, to tell Him of our love, to worship and adore Him, and to intercede before Him for others.
  • Don’t pray for the Devil to go. Command him to go. Use the authority God has given you. Put the Enemy in his place. Let him know that he has no right to disturb you while you are communing with the Father.
  • Don’t hesitate to bind any evil spirit that torments you during prayer and fasting. Don’t ask God to take care of them. He has given you authority to take care of them. Don’t be afraid. Speak directly to the demons. Bind them in Jesus’ name. Command them to take their hands off of your family, off of your business, and off of your house.

Get Your Mind On God

  • Be aware of God’s presence with you. Be conscious of His working in your life. If you let your mind wander, God can never reveal to you those better things that He has prepared for you.
  • Prayer is a two-way conversation. We speak to God, and God speaks to us. When God is speaking you must not be thinking about the score of your favorite football game or the current special offer at the corner restaurant.

Learn to Sense The Presence of God

  • Many people do not get their prayers answered because they cannot sense His presence; and how can you converse with Him effectively if you cannot even sense His presence? Visualize Jesus as you talk intimately with Him. Look into His face. Talk to Tell your troubles, but bring His word to Him about those troubles too. Confide in Him. Lay bare your soul before Him.
  • Don’t think of Jesus as looking like some painting you have seen and liked. He is like nothing that any human has been able to capture with a paint brush. Look to the Jesus of the Bible, not the Jesus of popular myth.

Hold Steady During the First Few Days

  • Be firm during the first three days of your fast. They are the most difficult.
  • When those first days have passed, it becomes easier to fast.

Be Aware Of Special Needs

  • Some people need to get away from everyone while they are fasting. The normal activities of the household might disturb their concentration.
  • Some people need to take time off from work to seek the face of God. If we can take time off for vacations, for hunting season, or just to work around the house for a few days, why not do it for the welfare of our souls?
  • If you are married, consider sleeping apart from your spouse while you are fasting. Deny the flesh. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. (1 Corinthians 7:5-KJV)

Drink Plenty of Water While You Fast

  • Your body can go a long time without food, but it can only go a few days without adequate liquids. Since you will not be getting the liquids normally contained in most foods, drink a lot of water while you fast. Start drinking more, even before you start. It helps you to flush the poisons out of your system.
  • A fast is a good time to get free from your craving for sugar. Too many of us are addicted to sweets. And drinking plenty of water will help you get over this craving. Putting a little lemon or lime in the water may help.

Use Wisdom When Your Fast has Ended

  • When your fast has ended and you begin to eat normally again, use wisdom. Don’t gorge yourself with all the food you missed while fasting. You’ll destroy all the good benefits you would have derived from the fast.
  • Begin to eat slowly, not all at once. Start with soups, fruits and vegetables. And use the opportunity to develop better, healthier eating habits. Now that you have the flesh under control, this will be easier to do.

Keep a prayer journal… Write out your prayers to God and His response to you
  • Identify and confess all sins during the beginning of the fast and repent.
